What engagement contracts do you offer?
We offer either a self employed CIS contract if you are genuininly self employed (“CIS”), or a PAYE umbrella contract for services if you are under the supervision, direction and control of the end client when on assignment (“PAYE Umbrella”)

CIS Engagement & Compliance

What do I need to supply to Hypay to be self employed
You must send Hypay your HMRC UTR number so they can verify your tax status. Off the back of that HMRC will tell Hypay whether they need to deduct 30%, 20% or 0% tax from your payment each week.
The SDC assessment is a series of questions that helps to determine whether you can be engaged as self employed thorugh CIS with us. To be able to be engaged and paid CIS you must not be under supervision, direction and control whilst you are carrying out your work. You will be assessed when you register and before each assignment. You may also be re-assessed during a company audit.
The SDC assessment helps to ensure that you are genuinely self-employed and not a “disguised employee.”
The SDC assessment asks questions about how you carry out your work, such as who decides what work you do, how you do it, and when you do it.
No as a self employed worker you do not accrue holiday pay.

PAYE Umbrella & Compliance

What are my holiday pay options?
You can choose to have your holiday pay paid to you as you earn it (which is the default position), or you can accrue it and take it as paid time off. You need to inform us if you want to accrue your holiday. Holiday pay will be clearly shown on your payslip
Yes, you will have to pay National Insurance contributions on your earnings.
You will have been provided with a Key Information Document (“KID”) which would have explained this. The amount Hypay receives from your agency is called the contract sum. The contract sum has to cover all of your employment costs, inclduing a margin that the agency pays Hypay to covers its overheads. The employment costs include your gross pay, your holiday pay, Employers National Insurance, Employers Pension, Apprenticeship Levy and Hypay’s margin
Your agency will have the exact same employment costs as we have and therefore they would have to also reflect this in the rate they can afford to pay you
The deductions on your payslip are for things like tax, National Insurance, and any other statutory deductions such as student loan repayments.
You will need to contact HMRC directly to get your tax code corrected. Once you have a new tax code, HMRC will notify us so we can update your record in payroll.
You can request these documents through the online portal or by contacting the Customer Service team.
